SCUBA – Experience The Underwater World of Los Cabos

SCUBA – Experience The Underwater World of Los Cabos

Cabo is known as the hub of diving in Baja California Sur Mexico and divers from all around the globe flock here to explore what Jacques Cousteau described as “the world’s richest sea.”

The unique and interesting marine environment of Cabo is due to fact that on one side of the Baja California Peninsula is the Pacific Ocean and on the other side is the bountiful Sea of Cortez, which is considered to be one of the most fertile bodies of water in the world.

These two ecosystems converge right at the tip of the peninsula, called Land’s End, bringing in large amounts of plankton that create an unbelievable explosion of vibrant ocean life.

After Hurricane Odile swept through in September 2014, local diving centers teamed up to clean up a few sites and were more than pleasantly surprised once underwater. Not only had much of the sand washed away leaving most sites about 20 feet deeper but new areas had been uncovered with never before seen rocks, nooks, and crannies.

The icing on the cake was the discovery of a small shipwreck which had been previously buried by layers and layers of sand.

Los Cabos offers dive sites that suit all levels, from the beginner to the most experienced divers. Some of the most amazing sites are close to the iconic El Arco and only minutes away from the marina making a diving experience in Cabo one for the bucket list!
